Hello, I am Elaine Delbary, the founder of Counting Sheep Sleep Consultancy.

What I do!

I will teach your infant or toddler how to sleep through the night. I work with families who are ready to make a commitment to follow tried and tested methods. I coach, guide and support step-by-step parents who want to make improvements to their child’s sleeping habits, and who want to have a quality night's sleep for themselves once again!

I am a sleep expert and I am here to help you when all the family are sleep deprived. You can help your child by following my instructions and teach them independent sleep strategies. Children are capable of sleeping 10 -12 hours a night, depending on their development stage, once they have been given the opportunity to learn how to fall asleep without sleep props.

I will also educate you about the importance of sleep and what your child needs, ensuring you know what to expect, and help you develop your confidence to support your child through the process and reach your sleep goals.

I am a graduate of The Dana Obelman, Sleep Sense Training Program that uses proven strategies for teaching your child to sleep through the night.

My sleep struggles!

When my first daughter was born she was a great sleeper. Then a new story started with my second daughter. I used to sleep, and then I didn’t. Nobody was sleeping in our house and sleep became a distant memory, but the topic of sleep was talked about all day every day!

I read articles, took advice from friends, but my daughter still did not sleep for any length of time. I was exhausted and I was doing anything to get her to sleep. I did not know sleep coaches existed until my friend used one. Her life had changed, she was happier and had more energy. Her child now slept all night, every night and napped everyday in his cot. I wanted the same for my daughter and for me!

I booked the same sleep coach and within two weeks my two hour nightly wakings stopped, my daughter slept all night and would take a two - three hour nap each day. I remember crying on my discovery call and also crying at the end because I couldn’t believe the change the sleep coach had made to my family’s life, and how just a few changes to my daughter's routine changed our sleep life for the better!

How did I become a sleep consultant?

When I moved to Amsterdam I became a stay-at-home mum for my two energetic girls, but I missed working with people and learning new things.

I read some books about sleep and found the topic interesting so I made the decision to follow the certified Sleep Sense Programme and became a sleep consultant. My goal is simple: I want to help all the family enjoy a full night's sleep once again with a little support from me!

The Lamb Package

Counting Sheep Sleep Consultancy can help you solve a range of common sleep problems families frequently encounter with children aged from four months to five years old, resulting in your child being able to fall asleep independently. This package provides support Monday to Friday, and comprises:

  • A 15 minute consultation by phone.
  • The completion of a detailed questionnaire regarding your child’s personality and current routine, and the challenges you are presently facing. This will enable me to understand what you want to achieve and how that would look and make you feel.
  • A 60 minute Facetime or Zoom call to discuss the questionnaire answers. I will also discuss the different sleep methods that we could implement with your child.
  • Using the Sleep Sense methods, a customised gentle sleep plan will be created that is tailored to your family, your child’s developmental stage and your goals.
  • A 90 minute Facetime or Zoom call to implement the personalised plan that has been created for your child.
  • Daily review of the sleep log Monday to Friday though WhatsApp, Messenger or text.
  • Four 15 minute phone calls to be used during the coaching period.
  • A 15 minute closing call when we have completed the coaching.
  • Support for two-three weeks depending on your child’s development age, sleep needs and how quickly your child learns to sleep independently. (Typically 2 weeks for children under 36 months and up to three weeks for older children).
  • Handouts and resources to support your child’s sleep goals.

The Big Sheep Package

This package may be more suitable than ‘The Lamb Package’ for families who are feeling nervous about sleep coaching, and who want contact every day to feel more reassured and confident in implementing the plan.

It may also be suitable for families who want to coach several children, or for families who need to coach a child for both nap-time and bed-time.

The package includes everything in The Lamb Package plus:

  • Daily review of the sleep log seven days a week through WhatsApp, Messenger or text.
  • Two additional 15 minute phone calls to be used during the coaching period.

After our time together you may find yourself with a new sleep issue. Purchase a Baa Blah one hour phone, Zoom or WhatsApp call for advice about any of your child’s changing sleep related needs, such as advise about a new schedule, or you need reassurance about changes you are planning to make to your child’s routine, such as returning to work.

If you do not use all the time on the call, your minutes can be saved and used at a later time.

The Spring Lamb Package

It’s a wise decision to teach your baby healthy sleep habits right from the beginning of his or her life, and to know what to expect in the first few months. The Spring Lamb package will educate parents on the importance of sleep; the science of sleep; the development needs of a newborn, and what simple methods and routines you can use to establish healthy sleep habits.

This package comprises:

  • A 15 minute phone consultation.
  • 90 minutes Zoom or Facetime meeting, including a presentation, question time and discussion time.
  • A 15 minute call to discuss any questions you may have following our 90 minute meeting.
  • Handouts and resources to support your child.
